The intention of this trip:
- Younger less experienced Scouts: Camp in a beautiful Ozark Mountain campground and take day hikes to learn and gain more experience hiking and backpacking. You may want to bring your fishing pole for trout.
- Older more experience Scouts & Philmont Crew: Backpack a 24.3 section of the Buffalo River Trail (Ponca to Pruitt). This is a great shake-out hike for Philmont crews. We will teach you tricks and important items for backpacking at Philmont.
Trip Schedule:
- Depart: Saturday, March 9th. Taillights on Saturday morning to make the beautiful drive into the Ozarks (6 hours). Then set up our base-camp and get prepared for hiking the following 3 days.
- Return: Wednesday, March 13th. Older scouts should return to base-camp on Tuesday night. We will all break camp on Wednesday morning and then drive back to Richardson.
We will need several adults to go on this trip since we will split into two groups:
- One group will accompany the older boys on their 3-day hike.
- The other group will work with the younger scouts on day-hiking, skills-building, fishing, and other activities.
We need to get a feel for how many are interested before we can fully develop group costs. Please RSVP to let me know you are interested and to reserve your spot (adults and Scouts) You can click on my name to send an email.
Sincerely,
Bram Franklin
