There are badges for the arts: Moviemaking, Animation, and Sculpture; those with big imaginations: Inventing and Game Design; the sciences: Astronomy, Energy, and Chemistry; hobbies: Gardening, Geocaching, and Collections; sports: Golf, Athletics, and Sports; and of course the camp standards of Leatherwork, Indian Lore, and Basketry. These are just a few of 138 badges currently offered through Boy Scouts.
In the past few weeks we have added counselors for 56 merit badges - an amazing start! But we would like full coverage, and that means more help...
To help our Scouts to learn and earn merit badges requires (all free of charge):
- An application
- Up to date Youth Protection Training (YPT) certification
- A short online training module
These badges are for teaching 11-17 year olds, no PhD required - if you are knowledgeable via your vocation or hobby, you most likely qualify. Please check out the list for badge requirements at Meritbadge.org and register with Carrie McClelland or Shelley Ahlemeier .
